Why do I state my pronouns (and ask you for yours)?

Simply put, I do this to normalize the notion that one’s pronouns may not match with the societal norms of biological male and female. As a cis-gendered individual (someone whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their birth sex), I feel that it is the very least that I can do for my non-binary, transgender, etc. friends. The burden to identify proper pronouns shouldn’t have to be on those for whom pronouns are a sensitive area. All people are welcome in front of my camera and I want to ensure that I respect and validate an individual by using the correct pronouns
